   This song is about wanting to live a different life and see things from a 'new perspective'. The narrator wants to go back and fix things he has done... Hence'stop there and let me correct it'... because he knows he can fix it if he tries.

   I believe it goes like this:
   There's a haze above my TV that changes everything I see' something has changed that makes him have a great epiphany or realization.
   'and maybe if I continue watching I'll loose the traits that worry me' maybe if he thinks about whatever altered his way of thinking about things he'll become a better person.
   Now he wants to fast forward an argument between a lover, stop @ the part they have makeup sex, so he can explain how he'd handle that situation (he knows now that telling a girl what she wants 2 hear in an argument just so he can get some action is wrong)
   'stop there and let me correct it': stop right b4 sex so he can explain 'I wanna live a life from a new perspective' he wants 2 handle it better. 'u come along bcuz I love your face, and I'll admire your expensive taste'
   -he's putting 2 and 2 together. because of his new out look on life he realizes she really only sticks around because he feeds her ego, and sex; and he only wants sex and since she's good @ it he'll pretend to admire how materalistic she is.
   he doesn't wanna b knwn for using girls hemnce, 'I wanna b praised from a new perspective' so he leaves and doesn't screw her in order to gain respect and get a better rep or 2 be seen from a new perspective. ('so leaving now would bena good idea')

   -This guy realizes that really his relationship is based on sex and they'll put up up w/ each other for it but upon realizing that he wants to be seen from a diff. light. Therefore after fast forwarding to when they'd usually screw he's like, 'well...you only like because I say your pretty and I only like you for sex but we deserve better and we should be seen differently sooo the 1st step would b to leave.

   Well, I just so happen to have grown up w/ older boys, therefore, I Happen to have a slight perverted sense of humor. And I was at the concert when Brendon sorta explained the song. No bullsh**ing, it about...Blowjobs.

   Ryan and Jon had left the band and Brendon & Spencer were having a 'new perspective' on their music.
   Can we fast forward to you go down on me- I have a different opinion most people see it as sexual, I see it as he is waiting for the fans to start saying bad stuff about them, to start bagging on them.
   The song is not 1 sided he is trying to look at it from Ryan and Jon's point of view too.
   He doesn't want to go with the image of the Brendon/ Ryan romance stuff anymore, He want's to be seen as something different, and sound different because the band is not the same anymore without Ryan and Jon which is why they sound so different in Vices and Virtues.
   They were band mates but also close friends- Put a heavy load on you, it is changing your friendship. They had plans to be successful together- Other plans fell through.

   This is for believers in 'Ryden' (prepare for a long one!):

   I'm not sure this has anything symbolic to mean, other than in Behind The Sea (and also reinforced in many other songs) when Ryan would say he was underwater, he meant dreaming. In Ryan's dreams he's with Brendon.
   'There's a haze above my TV

   There are problems, but Brendon doesn't want to jump at them. He thinks if he sits and lets them pass by, they will magically fix themselves.
   'Can we fast-forward till you go down on me?'
   We know what this means, right? I actually find it kind of sad, though it might look funny. Brendon wants to go to the part where they're together, and skip all of the fighting and rough times. Yes, the make-up sex.

   And I'll admire your expensive taste'
   I'm guessing this is from Ryan's perspective. He wants to leave, because he know it will be for the best.
   The second two lines are from Brendon, again. Who called Ryan a golden god? Brendon. He loves his face, right? And who wears Italian leather shoes and vests all the time? Ryan.
   'And who cares divine intervention
   I wanna be praised from a new perspective'
   I believe this should be 'And who cares, Divine Intervention.', because, once again, Brendon called him a god. Divine means godly. Maybe he's saying Ryan is beautiful and fun to look at, but he intervenes. He wants to be a different band. He wants to have a different sound than Ryan. So, they split.
   'But leaving now would be a good idea
   So catch me up im getting out of here
   (Can we fast-forward till you go down on me?)'
   Pretty much speaks for itself. They don't want the same thing. It would be best if they split. Brendon just wants it to go back to how it was, when there was no fighting and they were in love.

   They took their success for granted, but they respected having it. Even though they broke up, they move along with new passion and ready for the future.

   Brendon feels like there isn't much difference in the normal routine of fighting and having make-up sex. So, he decides rather to deal with their problems and leave.

   He doesn't want to live a life that's planned out for him. He just wants to have the future be a surprise, rather than a boring life that's put on a schedule.
   P.S. Brendon said this song was written about a dream and also a 'naked guy'. There are rumors (coming from a journal entry written by Ryan) that Brendon and Ryan did something in the ocean. Ocean sex? We never know. I'm guessing Ryan got his lingo for 'dream' being 'sea' because something happened.

    To me, this song is about wanting to change things. The narrator is saying that he did something wrong and he wants so fix it. He can if he trys to. He doesn't want to be just used. He wants to be somebody who people actually care to know.

    Sure it may be from a dream, that's great, I have awesome dreams like this also.
    So, what I get from this song is that basically, he has been through his ups and downs. He wants to live his life differently, with still the effect of being the person he is, but with different standards and habits. He is ' in a sexual relationship' or a relationship that means something to him, physically, but not mentally. He doesn't love her, but he doesn't know the right path to take, so he feeds her ego, and configures to the way he already lives, until he realizes, it's not what he wants...
    personally, 'can we fast forward to go down on me...' doesn't have to refer to a blow job. It could mean letting go, or him getting the best out of what he wants/wanted and needs. . Or even just getting rid of the exhaustion and problems... Don't take thing's so literally. But at teh same time, it could be refering to sexual makeup. They want each other so bad physically, but they can't stand each other...so they both want to forget everything else, and just fast forward to the best parts ;) ...

    Well, the song isn't about a girl. Its about a guy, no one knows who, everyone is just assuming it's ryan ross, but who knows. The line about the salty waves against his skin is about a time when P!ATD and some others went skinny dipping in the sea.

    Brendon says in his interview with Diablo Cody, that he wrote this song while he was living in Vegas and it was about a dream he had about moving out to California. He also states ' I have never had a dream like that, i couldn't let it go, so I had to write it down on paper.. and luckily I did ' <- referring to the song. Hope i helped :)

    I think the narrator is a guy that wants to set things straight and not be taken for granted as some kind of sex toy. he wants to be seen from a new perspective. the song seems like a conversation or rant the male narraotr is having.
    'Stop there and let me correct it.'- He is telling his girlfriend that he wants her to stop so that he may correct her by telling her how he feels.
    'I wanna live a life from a new perspective
    You come along because i love your face
    And I'll admire your expensive taste
    And who cares divine intervention
    I wanna be praised from a new perspective'- The narrator is telling the girl in question that he does not want to be some sex toy and that she only likes him because he compliments her.Overall he just wants to be seen from a new perspective.
    'But leaving now would be a good idea
    So catch me up on getting out of here'- He doesn't believe that she will change so he decides to leave her in search of a real relationship.
    'Go down on me'- This part of the song is sang differently than the other lines, which makes me think the narrator is mocking the girl and how she just wants to skip to the sex.

    Bad habits and temptaions just keep coming his way and all he does is breath and be happy for himself because he can resist. A boy has some bad habits and wants to live a better life. He has a girlfriend and he realized they are only together because she is pretty and he feeds her ego. Basically exactly what soembody else said. The 'who cares divine intervention' he's basically saying a divine, (beautiful) intervention is the kind you give to yourself because you really do want to change. He wants to be praised by us (his fans) for the good in him not the bad habits.
